Fruits:  Plant Fruit Trees.  Time to mulch figs to prevent freeze damage.  Prune to groom and shape.  Do not remove too much.

Roses: Do not prune in January all annual pruning should be done in  the middle of February, just before the spring buds break.  To prevent later appearance of disease in the old beds, keep garden clean of debris and weeds.  Complete preparation of new beds for roses.

Lawns:  Remove thatch aerate and feed with low nitrogen mixture.

Winter Protection:  Expect freeze any time, protect tender plants. Water. Always remove coverings, when temperature rises above freezing to keep from damaging them.

The McKendree Park Beautification Committee is requesting volunteers who can assist with installing holiday decorations.  Specifically, we are looking for volunteers to help:

• Swap out the banners that are attached to the light poles
• Install holiday lighting  at the community pool area

The schedule for these activities is as follow:

• Saturday, November 26 – 11am to 3pm – Swap banners and begin lighting installation (Postponed due to weather)
• Saturday, December 3 – 11am to 2pm – Swap banners and begin lighting installation
• Saturday, December 10 – 11am to 2pm – Complete the lighting installation
