Mckendree Park Homeowners Association

September Yard Of the Month

Starting September, the HOA decided to restart the “Yard of the month” program. Every month one hard working family who keeps their yard looking clean and in tune with the deed restrictions, will win a Home Depot Gift Card and a sign posted on their front yard as a token of appreciation for their contribution in making the sub-division looking good.
The yard of the month award for September went to Benitez Family at 6626 Trenton Lake Ln. Inspite of the hot weather, they kept their yard looking pretty and well maintained. Congratulations once again!

October Yard Of The Month

The change in weather has brought along brighter green lawns and plants smiling with respite from the scorching sun. This month’s winner of the “Yard of the month” award is the Phong family at 6722 Emerald Shire Ln. Thanks guys, your yard is an inspiration to all of us in Mckendree Park!

It brings great pride to see community participation in keeping our neighborhood looking good, and home owner’s efforts are greatly appreciated. It will soon be time to check fall to-do lists, and prep yards for winter color.

September and October Gardening Tips

September/October Gardening Tips for Fall Landscaping Projects 2011

1. Clean Up Flowerbeds of fallen foliage and prepare for fall annual planting.
2. Prune up/reshape Roses for fall growth.
3. Fertilize your St. Augustine Grass for winter protection and continue to mow at maximum height.
4. When the heat and drought end, the weather could bring brown patch. Watch for yellowish spots and apply insect killer to stop the brown patch. This insect killer could also help in reducing the number of ant mounds in your yard.
5. Time to prune hedges and apply seasonal mulch.
6. Winter fruits and vegetables get planted. Wait until November to plant petunias and pansies.
